Centennial.
A Morgan Hill History Trail Timeline has been chosen as the central element in a project to commemorate the Morgan Hill 2006 Centennial. A gazebo, a centennial bell and a time capsule are other parts of the project that will be designed and integrated with the Trail after it is planned in detail. The Trail is made up of plaques, markers and other objects of historical interest, and will be located on the grounds of Villa Mira Monte, the 1884 home of Hiram Morgan Hill and his wife Diana Murphy Hill. The project committee is now seeking suggestions for historic events or persons who should be included in the Trail. Everyone is encouraged to offer ideas for this permanent monument to Morgan Hill’s history.
1. What important historic events that occurred in the greater Morgan Hill area, or who person or persons who lived in this area should be included in the History Trail?
- How might these events or persons possibly be illustrated (for example: statues, objects, photos, description) in the History Trail?
Send all ideas by Sept. 25 to Steve Tate, st*******@ch*****.net, 2940 Holiday Court, Morgan Hill 95037, 408-621-7377.Â
The Centennial Project Committee consists of representatives of many community organizations and is chaired by Steve Tate and Roger Knopf.Â
Tate and Knopf were appointed by the Morgan Hill Centennial Committee to determine what the community’s gift for the Centennial Celebration should be, and to create that gift.
The History Trail Timeline was chosen along with the other project components after considering many other alternatives. The combination of elements selected was determined to best meet all the criteria for a Centennial project.
