Dear Editor,

This is written in memory of J.R. Adams, a 17-year-old former Morgan Hill teen who was killed in a hit-and-run traffic accident in Cancun, Mexico.

Ode to J.R.

He was his father’s son Same name, same face Same great personality Same unforgettable smile And knack for humor. Tall and handsome, He was the epitome of A gifted athlete Built with determination And a father’s devotion. He had a promising future; Now, he’s in God’s hands Away from pain and disappointment Surrounded by happiness, Loved and held by the Father For eternity and beyond, But cherished forever By his dad who poured

His heart and soul into Making him the finest young man Anyone would ever want to meet. It makes no sense why God Always takes the best But when he got JR, He won the jackpot. While JR’s absence leaves a Hole in our hearts, The emptiness will be filled With sweet memories Of a loving brother to his Three adoring siblings Of a devoted son to his Proud dad, stepmom, and mom Of a loyal friend to Teens from San Jose to Gilroy Of a leader to his Teammates at Valley Christian. His spirit will live on

In the jokes you tell

In the plays made on the field

In his sister’s hugs good night

In Quillan’s emulation

In the athletes

KC continues to groom.

Fond thoughts of JR will inspire

Rather than defeat

As he leaves a legacy

Of good sportsmanship

Of good sportsmanship

Of hard work.

Though not wealthy in money,

JR was rich in love;

While not everything came easily,

He achieved through resolve.

JR would want to be remembered

With joy and gratitude….

He seized life as if there were

No tomorrow –

And today…

Though we must live without him

In the flesh,

We should take comfort

In the eternal peace he has found

And the memories he has left behind.

We celebrate a life that was

Short but well-lived,

That left an indelible impression

On all who knew him,

That was nurtured and exalted

By his family and friends,

That will never be forgotten

And will survive through

All who loved and

Treasured him.
