Maybelle Farotte passed away January 8, 2017, leaving a legacy of good humor and devotion to those she loved. Born November 24, 1927, May attended Live Oak High School before marrying her husband, Gordon Edward Farotte, in 1948.
In sixty years of marriage, they shared a passion for antiques, golfing, Las Vegas, and, most especially, their children and grandchildren. Theirs was an uncommonly enduring and appreciative love. May was a proud member of several bridge and pan clubs throughout Gilroy, where she delighted in the camaraderie and support of her many adored friends.
Together, the women often used the occasions to raise funds for St. Mary Parish. With a sassy wit, May imparted upon those closest to her a strong sense of self. She knew blending in was meaningless. Her walls were vividly colored, her cooking was boldly flavorful, and her decisions left no room for interpretation!
May was the one and only, and she nurtured that same originality in her family, of which she was fiercely protective. They are forever grateful. May is survived by her siblings Ann Marie Pasek (Fred) and Harry John Damkar (Madeline); children Gordon Jr. (Rosalind), Gary, Nancy Farotte-Bourquin (David), and Greg (Susan); grandchildren Melanie, Catherine Minor (DJ), Andrew, Elizabeth Heenan (Josh), Christin, Jacob, Connor (Frankie), and Cole; and great-grandchildren Waylon Farotte and Amelia Heenan.
Funeral services will be private as per Mays request.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The National Psoriasis Foundation, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, St. Judes, and The ASPCA.
