Mary B. Kazanjian, 84, went unexpectedly to be with the Lord on August 11, 2012. She joined her loving husband, Jack, of 60 years.
She is survived by her daughter Eileen and husband Robert Douglas of Corvallis, OR, grandson Ryan, wife Rebecca Douglas, and their daughter Phoebe of Corvallis, granddaughter Madeline, husband Andrew Martin, and their children Michael, Cody, and Kayla of Gilroy, CA.
Mary was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and her family later moved to Berkeley, CA. There she attended Berkeley High School and graduated from UC Berkeley. It was during this time that she met Jack. After marrying, they moved to San Jose, where their only daughter, Eileen, was born.
They moved to Gilroy a few years later, where they remained the rest of their lives. Mary was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was dearly loved by all of her family and friends.
Mary had a real green thumb and enjoyed taking care of her yard and garden. She often shared the bounties of her garden with those around her. Her hobbies included playing games, reading, and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Mary could often be heard singing, and she took pleasure in singing with her church choir for many years.
She was also a cancer survivor and never complained during this trial or any other times of personal difficulty. Mary also spent her life closely interwoven with that of her husband, Jack. She was not only his wife and friend, but his constant companion. She was his bookkeeper and secretary for his accounting practice, as well as his dancing partner for over 50 years with the Gilroy Gliders Square Dancing group. She was very active in her church and supported many conservative causes.
Memorial services will be held at the Gilroy Presbyterian Church, 6000 Miller Ave., at 2:00 P.M. on Sat., Sept.1, 2012. Family would appreciate any donations made in Mary’s memory to go to Beth-El Baptist Church, at 810 Tennant Ave., Morgan Hill, CA 95037.
