Margaret Rose Prewett of Paicines passed away in Salinas at the age of 86. She was born in San Diego, CA and lived in San Benito County since 1978.

She was a nurse at Mee Memorial Hospital in King City for many years and a cattle rancher with her family in Paicines. She attended nursing school at Highland Nursing School in Alameda County, was a member of San Benito Cattlewomens’ Association, The Home Department of UC Extension Service and a past member of The Amor Rebekah Lodge in King City. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Prewett.

She is survived by her children, Margaret Ann Prewett of Paicines, James Prewett of Gilroy, Fredrick Prewett of Santa Maria, step- daughters Jackie Vargas of Los Gatos and Cynthia Rabe of Prunedale, her two brothers, John Westphal of Clovis and James Westphal of Prunedale and her sisters, Betty Heitman of Red Bluff, Ruth Pressey of Napa, Peggy Weaver of Long Prairie, MN and Marilyn Rankin of Mt. Pleasant, MI. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and her step-daughter, Nancy Schwertseger.

Friends can pay their respects on Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1:30 P.M. at the IOOF Cemetery.
