Lydia Ann Castillo, 45, died suddenly on January 6, 2007 in Redding, CA. Lydia was born and raised in Hollister, and moved to Redding several years ago.

She is survived by her daughter, Kassi Castillo of Madras, OR, her father Robert Borges of Hollister, her mother Mary Borges-Prater and stepfather Harry Prater of Hollister, her brothers Robert T. Borges of Hollister, Bryan Borges and wife Kim of Los Banos, Anthony Borges and wife Ivy of Hollister, her sister Lisa Borges and fiance Don Kelley of Hollister, her nephews Matthew Borges, Michael Borges, AJ Borges, Bryan Borges Jr., Anton Borges, Joshua Radtke, Scott Kelley and Todd Kelley and her niece Krystal Borges.

Her partner Shelly Lee of Redding, CA and their adopted children, Treasure and Shane Lee, also survive her.

Lydia was born in Hollister on March 30, 1961. She attended local schools and eventually served in the US Army. She has been a part of numerous volunteer projects throughout the years. Her all time dream was to become a chef, but she was also happy cooking as a volunteer at a convalescent hospital in Redding.

Lydia had a very special place in her heart for all of her nephews and niece. They fondly referred to her as “Auntie Stitch” after a long-standing family joke. Lydia enjoyed softball and was a lover of gardening. Lydia was extremely dedicated to her family and gave her all to them. She taught them that it is ok to just be who you are.

A private family gathering will be held in Redding, CA and a remembrance will be held at the Dunne Park Clubhouse in Hollister on Saturday, January 20th, 2007 from 12pm-4pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
