Luisa passed away at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital August 10th at the age of 84 years. A native of Mexico, Luisa spent the last 45 years as a resident of San Benito County. She and her late husband Jesus Vasquez had been married for 68 years when he passed away September 29, 2006. “A homemaker all her life, Luisa was devoted to her family, especially cooking for them at the family get-togethers which she enjoyed so much.
She was the happiest when her family was around her” said her children. Luisa was a member of the Old Mission San Juan Bautista. Survivors are her children Juan Vasquez of Hollister, Maria Castaneda (spouse Alfredo) of San Juan Bautista, Jose Vasquez of Los Banos, Espie Chavez (spouse Refugio) of San Juan Bautista, Gabriel Vasquez of Merced, Antonia Vasquez of Vacaville, Rosa Cecena of Los Banos, Freddy Vasquez of Hollister, Carlos Vasquez (spouse Phyllis) of Hollister and Danny Vasquez of Merced; her daughter-in-law Martha Vasquez of Hollister; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughter Rachel Ventura and son Jose Lucio Vasquez. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the rosary offered at 6:30 P.M. at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at the Old Mission San Juan Bautista on Thursday morning at 9:30 A.M. to attend a Mass Of The Resurrection beginning at 10 A.M. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
