The construction of Los Paseos Elementary School’s new multi-purpose room is once again the topic of several items on a Morgan Hill School Board meeting agenda.

Trustees are scheduled to vote during their meeting Monday night on increasing contract amounts and approval of a contract for inspection services.

Los Paseos, located in south San Jose, needed a new multi-purpose room after Encinal Elementary School was closed, and the school’s fourth, fifth and sixth grade students were added to Los Paseos’ K-3 grades.

The district is working with the City of San Jose to build the room, which the city will use for community events when it is not being used by the School District.

Trustees will vote on a change order request totaling $45,903. They also will consider an amendment to an architectural agreement for an additional $42,000. The contract for materials testing and inspection services is capped at $79,157.

The estimated cost of the building is $4.2 million.

Also on the agenda for Monday is the presentation of a proposal for the elementary music program by Britton music director John Bremis. The program, which serves the district’s fourth through sixth graders, has been on the chopping block in recent years due to budget deficits, but has survived. Two years ago, it was rescued by a donation of more than $26,000 by the district’s three music booster organizations, the Emerald Regime Boosters and the booster clubs at Martin Murphy Middle and Britton Middle.

Trustees will also hear an update on the process for building the budget for the next fiscal year, as well as the monthly cost and status report on Sobrato High and a district enrollment report.
