-Sobrato
The Sobrato girls cross country team took second place out of 13 teams.
Finishing just behind Aptos High School, the Sobrato girls beat perennial powerhouse San Benito and the 2006 Blossom Valley Athletic League Champions Willow Glen.
Four Sobrato runners finished in the top 20 including Alex Seda in eighth place overall at 20:47, Amber Masoni in ninth overall at 02:48, Melina Silva in 14th at 21:47, and Kayla Nishimatsu in 19th place at 22:06.

Mitch Shenkelberg also had a good showing for Sobrato finishing in 43rd overall in 18:06.
The boy’s team finished eighth overall.
-Live Oak
The varsity girls were led by junior Olivia Duran who medaled by placing tenth overall with a time of 20:59.
Following Duran were sophomores Pauline Olsen in 22:11, Renee Dominguez at 23:41 and freshman Chelsie Faulk at 23:53.
Overall the ladies placed eighth out of thirteen schools.
The Chieftain Classic was Faulk’s first official high school race.
“It’s exciting to see her progress from practice into a race,” head cross-country coach Dean C. Raymond said. “I’m excited for her and the girls team”.
On the boy’s side, junior Matt Morgan led the Acorns with an impressive early season time of 18:16, finishing 45th overall.
Morgan cut 5 minutes and 31 seconds off of his time from last year as a member of the JV team.
Morgan was closely followed in by junior Anthony Macadaeg at 18:30, sophomore Greg Wong at 18:39, and Armando Rodriguez at 18:46.
“For so early in the season it’s encouraging to see guys grouped close together,” Raymond said. “This grouping, plus the next group’s desire to compete on varsity should make the team competitive throughout the season.”
