Several Acorns place first and second in events; face Gilroy on
Thursday at home
Morgan Hill – Despite having just 10 girls competing against the North Salinas Vikings on Thursday afternoon, the Live Oak Acorns girls track and field team scored 47 points in their 87-47 loss.

“With only 10 girls competing, to get 47 points was outstanding,” said Live Oak coach Dean Raymond. “They were going against 30 girls. All of them competed well.”

Lisa Herrera had three first place finishes for the Acorns. Herrera won the 800 meter (2:54), the 1600 meter (6:01) and the 3200 meter (13:01). Teammate Olivia Duran came in second behind Herrera in the 1600 (6:02) and the 3200 (13:02).

Hannah Hart captured a first place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (18.7 seconds) and earned a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (55.7 seconds).

Rebecca Webb finished second in the 400 (68.8 seconds) and third in the 200 (30 seconds), while Courtney Robinson captured second place in the 200 (28.8 seconds).

Tiffany Baldwin finished second in both the shotput (24’9″) and the discus (79’3″) and Michelle Danner captured second place in the triple jump (29’3″).

The Acorns boys team also fell to the Vikings, 92-41.

John Hart had two first place finishes for Live Oak in the 110 meter high hurdles and in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles (47 seconds).

Dustin Muhn captured first place in the 100 (11.6 seconds) and the long jump (19′) and Steve Silveria earned first place in the high jump event (5’6″).

Jimmy Mallette placed first in the shotput event (41’5″) and third in the discus (106’7″). Teammate Tom Russo came in behind Mallette in the shotput earning second place (40’5″). Colby Austin came in second in the discus (112’9″).

The Acorns host the Gilroy Mustangs on Thursday afternoon.

“I think it’ll be a real close meet. We’re looking forward to Gilroy coming our way,” said Raymond.
