Live Oak roller hockey team defeats the Bellarmine Bells
following two narrow losses
San Jose – Live Oak beat Bellarmine 10-2 in Friday night’s roller hockey game. Senior Dustin Holt started it off for Live Oak with a goal off an assist from junior Brian Costello. Costello added three goals to the game and Holt had two assists. 

Senior Calvin Kiss and juniors Conner Williamson and Kyle Dutra each added a goal to the scoreboard for the Live Oak. Sophomore Michael Widergren scored two goals in the lopsided defeat of the Bells.

In the previous two weeks Live Oak came up short but also played some exciting hockey.

It was a close finish against Santa Theresa, 8-7, in favor of Santa Theresa.  Live Oak tried to catch-up through the first two periods and had goals from juniors Williamson, Scott Alexander, and senior Chase Norman with an assist from juniors Kyle Dutra and Costello.

Live Oak came on strong in the third period. Dutra scored four goals off assists from Williamson, Costello, and seniors Holt and Norman. Senior Alex Prado also contributed key plays to the game and goalie Ricky Lasher made great saves in the net.

While the clock was running out, Santa Theresa was able to score one more goal to keep its lead.

The previous Friday, Live Oak lost to St. Lawrence, 11-8. It was an exciting game with a tight score throughout the three periods. 

Live Oak was on top during the first period but in the end came up short. St Lawrence’s top forward, in for the entire game, never did seem to tire and blasted through Live Oak for eight out of his team’s 11 goals.

Filling in as goalie, Widergren had a great night in net making many key saves. Dutra scored the first two goals for Live Oak off assists from Norman. Dutra later added one more goal and had two assists. Norman added three goals to the scoreboard off assists from Alexander and Williamson. Alexander added a goal off an assist from Dutra. Kiss scored a goal with an assist from Norman.

Also playing strong for Live Oak was senior Brian Morrison and junior Tyler Damron who added critical plays to the game.
