The Live Oak Foundation, a community organization founded to promote academic excellence in the Morgan Hill Unified School District, donated more than $45,000 to the library funds of every district school.
The Board of Education offered recognition for the latest act of generosity as well as the foundation’s decades of giving back to the education community. Over the past 32 years, the foundation has awarded more than $800,000 in grants to MHUSD classrooms and programs, according to district staff.
The mission of the Foundation is to fund programs and materials that are not provided through regular district sources, the April 21 agenda item details.
“This year, instead of soliciting grant proposals from individual teachers, the Foundation Board will direct their grant resources to support the district’s libraries,” according to the agenda item.
Using a $5 per student allocation, the Foundation donated a designated amount to each of the district’s 14 schools and their libraries—adding up to a total donation of $45,000.
