About a dozen deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Asian Gang Team arrested the owner of Furniture Revolution after searching his business and San Martin home.

Hai Tran is not a member of an Asian gang and “is being very helpful and cooperative” in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s investigation of crimes that occurred in their jurisdiction, said Lt. Doug Fetteroll. He would not say what the alleged crimes were, only that his team is investigating a dispute over a six-figure sum of money that could turn out to be a civil matter.

“The conduct that occurred was criminal,” Fetteroll said. “I don’t believe (Tran) was principal but he may be related. He’s not the person who directly committed the alleged crimes but there may be some involvement.”

Police are trying to decipher whether the crimes that occurred are gang-related, Fetteroll said.

The deputies drove up from Los Angeles this morning in several unmarked, gray police cars and will return later today, taking Tran with them. He will be booked in Los Angeles County.

Although deputies searched both Tran’s home and business, Fetteroll would not say what they were looking for or what they recovered. Tran’s employees and family are not involved in the investigation, he said.
