Juventino Chavez, known to everyone as “Chavez’, passed away peacefully in his home, Friday morning.

He is survived by his wife, Asuncion Chavez of 58 years.

Preceeded in death by his son, Jesse and grandchildren, Albert, Joey, Lisa and Peter. Also survived by his daughters, Mary, Teddi (Gabino), Artie (Neiko), Anna (Henry), Alice (Gilbert), his grandchildren, Casalyn, Manuel (Lauren), John Jr., Alex (Maricela), Paulette (Adam), Sergio ( Michelle), Mikki, Steven, Henry Ray, Monica (Cipriano) and his eight great-grandchilren.

Born in Michoacan, Mexico, moving to California in 1950, where he worked for Gibson Farms for many years. He also worked for San Benito Foods until his retirement in 1994. He will be remembered for his passion of the game of Pool. He had many hobbies, which lead to his obsession of buying tools and his collection of saving all the nuts, bolts, clamps and hoses that would come in “handy” one day.

A funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday, August 31st at 1:30 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5th and College Streets.

Cremation is planned with private inurnment.
