Isamu Soda was born in and was a lifelong resident of Gilroy where he passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of 81. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed.
Isamu (Sam) was best known for his generosity and love for his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed going out to breakfast with his friends, spending time with his grandchildren, playing and watching basketball, road trips with the Nisei bowling league for many years, and most of all, trips to the casino! Isamu was proud to be involved in the Japanese community.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Chiyeko; his daughter Kathleen; his son Randy; his daughter Barbara Dooley, son-in-law Michael; his daughter Tammy and boyfriend Terry Bautista; his grandchildren Camren and Jasmin; his dog Elvis; his sisters, Aimee, Yaeko and Yuri; his step-grandchildren Nick and Lindsay, and many nephews, nieces, and in-laws. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at the Habing Family Funeral Home located at 129 Fourth Street in Gilroy.
