Believing that, perhaps, the third time really is the charm, In-N-Out Burger will return to the Planning Commission Tuesday, Jan. 14, this time with Applebee’s Restaurant in tow.
Actually, the commission approved the restaurant’s revised plans in August but the City Council, following a strong city staff opinion, rejected them on Sept. 4. There is strong public preference for In-N-Out Burger, somewhere in town.
At the Sept. 4 meeting Mayor Dennis Kennedy was the sole ‘yes’ vote, saying he would allow In-N-Out if it brought a sit-down restaurant along with it. It remains to be seen if the rest of the council will consider the addition of Applebee’s sufficient to overlook it’s unhappiness with a fast food restaurant at the gateway.
Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays in City Council Chambers, 17555 Peak. Details: 779-7271.
