This group of 13 skilled musicians gathers from all over the Bay Area to perform as the oldest community handbell group in continuous existence, under the direction of composer William Kyle.

The Christmas program will include arrangements of familiar carols as well as original works written for the unique sound of handbells. Though barely 40 years old as a concert instrument, handbells are rapidly achieving respect and admiration at the highest musical levels, and many world class composers are writing exciting music for this new genre.

Bay Bells’ repertoire of sacred and secular holiday favorites, performed on six octaves of bells and five octaves of chimes, will make up the Bay Bells Annual Christmas Concert at the Morgan Hill United Methodist Church, 17175 S. Monterey Road. Suggested tax-deductible donation to this non-profit ensemble is $5 at the door. Music lovers of all ages are invited to enjoy the fascination handbell audiences experience with this living instrument.

17175 Monterey Road, at West Fourth Street. Details: 782-7948.
