Live Oak Acorns

Live Oak jumped on Fremont-Sunnyvale early and cruised behind the pitching of Joe Goble in a 7-0 win on Friday.
Goble threw a three-hit shutout, walking none and striking out four in his best start of the year.
Coming off a two-inning, six run outing against Christopher the week before, Goble faced two over the minimum, thanks in part to strong defense behind him.
Live Oak turned one double play, caught a runner trying to steal third and threw out a runner at second from right field.
Goble relied on stellar command, going to a three-ball count just twice the whole game and threw 53 strikes within his 67-pitch outing.
Meanwhile, Live Oak’s offense benefited from a pitcher who wasn’t nearly as sharp as Goble.
Live Oak drew more walks (eight) than it had hits for the game (six).
Kyle Riveron scored the game’s first run when John Austin drew a bases loaded walk in the first inning.
In the second, Alex Cornejo drew a one-out walk, stole second and went to third on a single from Josh Alaniz.
Cornejo scored on a double-steal with Alaniz taking second.
After Justin Sanders moved Alaniz to third on a groundout, Riveron doubled to put the game at 3-0.
The Acorns busted the game open in the third when Riveron singled to lead off the inning, followed by back-to-back walks to load the bases.
After a popout to short, Cornejo and Alaniz both drew basesloaded walks.
Sanders drove in the third run on a sacrifice fly to center.
Live Oak scored its final run in the sixth with Jose Cruz who led off with a single, scored on a two-out single from Andrew Mendoza.
The Acorns will now take on defending CCS Open Division Champions Leland in a home and away series starting Tuesday before Live Oak enters its final two weeks of play against the top two teams in the league.
The defending champs are riding high coming into the game, winners of four straight and five of their last six, which includes winning the Baseball Battling Cancer Tournament last week.
First pitch for Tuesday’s game is 4 p.m. at Live Oak.
