SEMIPRO FOOTBALL: ’Stormers win 22-21 to climb above .500

Local teams looking for first league wins
LIVE OAK (2-2, 0-1) VS. PIONEER (1-3, 0-1), 7 P.M. TODAY

Live Oak and Pioneer drew tough losses in the first week of Mount Hamilton Division play last week and, just like that, need to win today’s 7 p.m. game at Richert Field to stay alive in the title chase.

The Mustangs are down compared to in recent years and will be pressed to stop Live Oak’s rushing attack.

The Acorns are still struggling with turnovers.

Their defense needs to step up after allowing several big plays in last week’s stunning loss to Santa Teresa.

SOBRATO (2-2, 0-1) VS. LINCOLN (1-2, 1-0), 7 P.M. SATURDAY

Last week, Lincoln scored on a kick-off return, rushed for 239 yards and passed for 107 while shredding Branham.

That could be bad news for a Bulldogs team that was suspect on all fronts Friday against Independence.

The Lions don’t look as dangerous as Indy but will pose an all-around test for Sobrato when the two teams meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at Richert Field in Santa Teresa Division play.
