Live Oak sophomore Moriah Fernandez travels to Lake Orion,
Michigan to participate in the girl’s national tournament
Competing with her club team, San Diego Hot Beaches, Morgan Hill’s Moriah Fernandez took part in the girl’s national wrestling tournament at Lake Orion High School in Michigan last weekend.

Fernandez, went 2-2 in the tournament on Saturday, defeating wrestlers from Illinois and Texas. Her two losses were good, tough, close matches against girls from Wisconsin and North Carolina.

On Sunday, the tournament held the college women’s wrestling. Since Fernandez was through competing in the high school tournament, she was allowed to compete.

Fernandez earned a fourth place finish on Sunday in the college competition and again her losses were by a very close margin.

The girl’s tournament wraps up the Folkstyle wrestling season for the year, as the Freestyle season begins. At the end of the month Fernandez will be in Colorado Springs, Colo. attending the Olympic Training Center to prepare for the Women’s Body Bar Nationals.

Fernandez will also be traveling throughout California and the western states with her club team.
