Born July 26, 1926, Emily Frances Freeman passed away peacefully July 23, 2016. Just three days shy of her 90th birthday.
The only child of Austrian immigrants Stephanie and Joseph Dietrich, Emily was raised and educated in her birthplace of Arcata, CA.
On March 31, 1946, she married Beverly Freeman. They began their life together in the Evergreen area of San Jose where the land was covered with fruit trees. She became a farmer’s wife.
I n 1954 with three young children, the family moved to the sleepy town of Morgan Hill, population 3,000, where their farming continued. With five children over a nine year span Emily’s loving care and devotion was then, as always, to her family.
Emily remained in Morgan Hill until late April when a sudden diagnosis of lung cancer meant the time had come for her family to care for its matriarch. Her loving daughter, Carolyn Turner drove Emily to her home inPlacerville, California where she enjoyed the tranquil setting of redwoods and oaks.
Emily will be remembered first and foremost by her love of family and kindness to others.
Beloved wife of the late Beverly Freeman, to whom she was married for 52 years. Loving mother of Jeanette Phelps, (J. Barton), James Freeman, (Cassandra), Carolyn Turner, (Robert), Barbara Dennis, (the late John Dennis) and Kenneth Freeman. Cherished grandmother to 11 and great-grandmother to 17.
