Clovis last weekend.
Live Oak High grad and Morgan Hill Makos Swim Club swimmer David Dunn took second overall in the finals of the 200-meter breaststroke at the California-Nevada Sectional Championships in Clovis last weekend.

Dunn shaved a second off his lifetime best in the event with a 2:24.58, a national Top 16 reportable time for his age group.

Dunn’s older brother Thomas finished third in the consolation finals of the event with his second best lifetime swim.

The Dunns both swam their best non-finals time and their lifetime second best times in the 400-meter individual medley.

In the 100-meter freestyle, David Dunn improved his lifetime best by 1.5 seconds in 55.40 but did not qualify for the finals.

David Dunn also finished third in the bonus final of the 400-meter individual medley with a time more than 2.5 seconds faster than his lifetime best.

David Dunn will be joining his brother on scholarship at the University of the Pacific in the fall.

Meanwhile, the Dunns’ Makos teammates were competing in a tri-meet with the Barracuda Aquatics of the Monterey Peninsula and the Cabrillo Threshers at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center on Sunday.

  • Brady Schmidt (25 free).

  • Jared Luner (25 back).

  • Adam Pinarbasi (50 free).

  • Ryan McCombs (50 fly).

  • Cleve Gurney (100 IM).

Danny Thompson (50 free, 100 free, 50 back).

  • Mike Wu (100 free).

  • Steven Rick (100 fly).

The Makos also won numerous relay events on both the girls and boys sides.
