I am a sixth-grader at El Toro Elementary school. I would like to thank the Live Oak High School and Britton and Martin Murphy middle school band boosters for providing the money that was necessary to keep the music program in our elementary schools.

When I was in the fourth grade, we were introduced to music by Mr. Rubino who taught Chorus. When I was in fifth grade students were allowed to choose an instrument. I chose the trumpet. Mr. Galrelson taught beginning band and taught us all about our instruments. Not everyone chose to continue in band this year.

Our intermediate band is about 20 students strong; but for those of us who stayed with it, the music becomes more important to us everyday. I now recognized how lucky I was to be in this program. I have learned so much and plan to continue on with band next year in middle school.

More importantly, because of the generous donation of the band boosters, my two younger brothers will now have the same opportunity as I did.

Thank you to those parents and supporters who recognize the value of music in our schools. And thank you to Mr. Rubino for his dedication to his students and his support while we play and learn.
