– The 15-2 and #1 seed Diamondbacks cooled off the red hot Reds
with an all around perfromance. The Diamondbacks offense scored
three runs in the first and fifth innings with five hits. The Reds
offense scored one run in the third and fifth innings with three
hits.
MORGAN HILL – The 15-2 and #1 seed Diamondbacks cooled off the red hot Reds with an all around perfromance. The Diamondbacks offense scored three runs in the first and fifth innings with five hits. The Reds offense scored one run in the third and fifth innings with three hits.

The Diamondbacks’ offense was led by Kolby Rousseu went 2 -3 with two homeruns in the first and fifth innings. Mark Harris went 2-2 with singles in the first and fifth innings and scored two runs. Zac Fedalizo went 1-2 with a single in the fifth inning and scored two runs. Ryan Chappell and Carey Middlekauff each hit the ball hard back to the Reds’ pitcher whose quick reflex threw them out at first.

The Diamondbacks’ pitchers, Mark Harris and Richie Martinez, were both tough throughout the game, which gave the defense very little action. Combined they had 15 strickouts, one walk, and three hits. Jesse Torralba saved a run when he held Ryan Laird to a triple with a quick relay to the cut off.

The Reds’ offense was led by Mike Gallucci, who went 1-2 and scored a run. Andy Muller went 1-2 with a double in the fourth inning. Ryan Laird went 1-2 with a triple. Chad Amundson walked and scored a run.

The Reds’ defense was led by first basemen Rhett Ramirez, who was involved in eight defensive playes including three fly balls by Diamondbacks Seth Gregory and Jesse Torralba. In the first inning, short stop Ricky Clift made two great plays: he stopped a hard hit ball and caught a runner stealing to stop the Diamondback rally. In the second inning, second basemen Chris Houle made a great stop to throw Ryan Chappell out at first. In the third inning, third baseman Jacob Martin caught the lead runner trying to steal, which saved a run.

The Reds’ pitchers, Mike Gallucci and Andy Muller, had five strickouts, four walks and gave up five hits.

The Diamondbacks advance to the National League Championship game and will play the Giants, Braves or the Reds on Monday at Britton on the Mustang field at 5:30 p.m.
