defeating the Yankees 11-8 on Thursday in near 100 degree heat.

The team received a solid effort on the mound from Richie Martinez and Mark Harris, who combined to strike out 11 and give up just six hits. Tyler Kiefer (2-for-3 with a triple) was the only Yankee hitter to have multiple hits in the game.
Harris shut down the Yankees in first three innings, while the Diamondbacks scored three runs in the first and five in the second.
Leadoff hitter Kolby Rousseu (3-for-4) provided the early spark for the Diamondbacks, hitting a solo home run and then a two-run jack.
Every Diamondback player got a hit. Ryan Chappell (1-for-2) and Jesse Torralba (2-for-3) both had doubles for the Diamondbacks. Mark Harris also went 2-for-3.
For the Yankees, Kiefer, Nicholas Pusateri, and Tommy Nourie combined for six strikeouts. Kiefer, Pusateri, Nourie, Christian Threard and Christopher Gomez all had hits for the Yankees and scored runs.
Defensively, Gomez turned a double play at third base for the Yankees. First baseman Tyler Martz made a nice catch in the third inning to help hold the Diamondbacks scoreless and strand a runner at third base.
It was the only inning the Diamondbacks didn’t score and was also the only inning the team left a base runner on.
Diamondbacks Carey Middlekauff made a nice catch to stop a rally in the fourth inning to prevent further damage after the Yankees scored three runs.
On Tuesday, the Diamondbacks didn’t want to take any chances after watching the Giants win 8-7 to force a final game in the Mustang National League championship.
The Diamondbacks powered past the Giants 14-5. in the second inning, Mark Harris drew a bases-loaded walk. Although Giants pitcher Brett Fuller got a pair of strikeouts, the Diamondbacks were still able to add two more runs on a Kyle Mendez base hit.
The Giants got a run back in the third inning to decrease the deficit to 5-2. Aaron Wallace, who singled, came around to score on a wild pitch.
The Dbacks took a 7-2 lead in their half of the third inning when Zach Fedalizo knocked in a pair of runners with a double.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Diamondback defense was able to hold off the Giants.
Martinez, who came on to pitch, made a move to third base and then quickly spun around to pick off the runner at first.
And then again in the sixth inning, the Diamondbacks got out of a jam when Chappell hustled back to his third base position to take a throw that eventually led to the lead runner being tagged out after a game of pickle.
The Diamondbacks got two more runs in the fourth inning after Middlekauff turned a single into three bases and scored on a home run by Rousseu.
The Diamondbacks added three more runs in the inning as they were able to steal bases at will to increase the lead to 11-2.
After Martinez was hit in his non pitching arm in the fifth inning by a line drive, he caught a popup then fielded a ball and threw to first for the second out.
But the Giants added a run on a base hit by Fuller and then a two-run home run by Ryan Mooney.
