Daniel E. Basaldua passed away in Turlock, May 24, 2007. He was 16.

A native of Santa Cruz County, Daniel lived in Watsonville before moving to Hollister, where he attended Maze Middle School. Daniel moved to Turlock five years ago, attended Mountain View Middle School and was currently a junior at Turlock High School. Daniel was involved in peer tutoring and had just gotten his driver’s license. He enjoyed cooking and listening to music, and had planned to become a registered nurse.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Michael Basaldua of Turlock and Michele Basaldua of Hollister; sisters, Krystle Gutierrez of Hollister and Alexzandra Basaldua of Turlock; grandparents, Darlene and Sonny Basaldua of Castroville and Patricia Moore-Ross of Hollister; great-grandparents, Gloria and Manuel Flores of Manteca, Vera and David Solano of Watsonville and Connie Basaldua of Freedom; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 A.M. at Green Valley Christian Center, 376 S. Green Valley Rd., Watsonville. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave, Watsonville.
