Craig Shubert, 67, of Morgan Hill, California passed away peacefully in his sleep January 9th, 2017. Born December 4th, 1949 in Shenandoah, Iowa to the late Charles and Mary Shubert, they briefly lived in Nebraska before the family settled in Stockton, California where he was raised with his brothers, Mark and Kent.
Craig attended San Jose State University where he met and fell in love with his wife Patricia (Pat). They shared a love of politics, art, and social activism. Pat and Craig married on July 14th, 1973 and settled in Morgan Hill where they have lived for the past 35 years.
Craig loved all types of music particularly bluegrass, folk, and classic rock. Music: radio, cd, vinyl or live, was the background soundtrack to his everyday life. He has always been an avid coin and rock collector which developed into being a collector of all things interesting.
Craig enjoyed card games with friends and family, garage sales, gardening and backyard farming.
He was outgoing and friendly, a true extrovert, known to strike up conversation with anyone who crossed his path.
Craig had a deep love and respect for the environment which energized him as a passionate advocate for local environmental causes.
He would want us all to remember to love life, love your family, and appreciate and care for the wonderful world around us.
Craig is survived by his wife, Patricia. His children Eric (Shana), Ryan, and Troy (Dana). His brothers Mark (Peggy) and Kent (Lisa). In addition his wonderful grandchildren: Averie, Emmy, Samuel and one on the way.
A celebration of life ceremony will begin at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21 at the Lima-Campagna-Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Road, Morgan Hill, CA.
