EDITOR: Last weekend, the Pride organization held its third
annual Summer Slugfest Tournament for 14U and 16U girls competitive
fastpitch softball. Eighteen teams were entered with 10 on the
waiting list. This tournament has become very popular in Northern
California with many teams, umpires and Nor-Cal officials.

Last weekend, the Pride organization held its third annual Summer Slugfest Tournament for 14U and 16U girls competitive fastpitch softball. Eighteen teams were entered with 10 on the waiting list. This tournament has become very popular in Northern California with many teams, umpires and Nor-Cal officials.
Our Morgan Hill community has six teams in the Pride organization and they all do their part to help make the tournament successful. Close to 100 people make up a team of our Pride volunteers.
Many of the outstanding volunteers help make the fields at Community Park in tip-top condition. A few, very dedicated, individuals go the extra mile. They include Gene Ciraulo, George Thrappas, Barry McDonnell, Brent Bear, Anthony Goularte, Steve Adamo, Terry Grove, Ed Ferry, Mike Turay and Dave Robertson. The extra hours they put in donating their time to preparing the fields, duggouts and surrounding areas are endless. We couldn’t do it without them.
We also are fortunate to have a wonderful concession stand with Jon Thomas from Friendly Fred’s donating generously back to our organization. The park is kept clean by Bill Jacobson Trucking taking care to see that the garbage is clear for the entire three days.
Also, Phyllis Dieter with the City of Morgan Hill was a great help in organizing the facility. One last thank you goes to Julie Rauschnot and Debra Grove for their efforts keeping the umpires comfortable with their stations.
Congratulations to everyone who help put the Pride organization and the City of Morgan Hill on the map in the Nor-Cal State Softball League.
