Morgan Hill - A controversial land-use initiative lured another lawsuit Friday, this one filed in Superior Court alleging ballot arguments in favor of the environmental measure include "brazenly" false statements intended to mislead voters at the polls.

The California State Legislature approved AB 2496, water conservation legislation authored by Assemblymember John Laird (D-Santa Cruz) that would set new water flush volume standards by making use of existing high-efficiency toilet technology. All new homes, schools, office buildings and other construction would be required to utilize high-efficiency toilets. The legislation enjoys broad support from water conservation groups, plumbers, environmentalists and toilet manufacturers. The bill, sponsored by the California State Pipe Trades Council, now heads to the governor for his signature.

Judge sets new trial date for Sept. 5

Morgan Hill – A 27-year-old man was arrested early Thursday morning after confrontations with Safeway grocery store employees and police officers.

San Martin – A rollover single-vehicle accident Friday morning slowed traffic on southbound Highway 101 to a crawl for approximately an hour as rescue vehicles shut down the number-three lane just north of the San Martin exit.
