Saint Louise signs MOU to merge with larger healthcare system

Saint Louise Regional Hospital announced today it has signed a memorandum of understanding to merge with Ascension Health Alliance, “the nation’s largest Catholic and nonprofit health system,” according to a press release posted on the Daughters of Charity Health System website.

Farmers face new water runoff rules

Despite a tremendous appearance of farmers and members of the public in opposition to new rules regarding water runoff, the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Board voted unanimously to pass the proposal that will require farmers to closely monitor their water runoff.

Grant time at MH Community Foundation

The Morgan Hill Community Foundation is accepting applications for its annual spring grant cycle, which disburses $5,000 to local, multiple non-profits. Farmers say no to water runoff rules

The Central Coast Regional Water Quality Board will vote Wednesday on a controversial proposal for new rules dealing with water runoff from farms to improve the quality of public water supply.

BREAKING: Amtrak train hits truck, southbound train to stop in San Jose

An Amtrak train struck a truck on the train tracks on Palm Avenue and Monterey highway, south of San Jose, according to public information officer for Caltrain, Christine Dunn. 

A wet and stormy week ahead

A low-pressure system is expected to move in overnight, bringing rain into the North Bay Tuesday morning and spreading into South County by the evening, according to the National Weather Service. That storm will be followed by three others that will hit the region through early next week. High temperatures are expected in the high-50s and low-60s throughout the week, with lows in the low- to mid-40s. The series of storms could dump more than three inches of rain, the normal average amount received for the entire month of March, said Austin Cross, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Monterey.

The family of Mike Davenport, a Gavilan College board of trustee who died last week at the age of 47, have announced his funeral services. 

Mt. Madonna YMCA surpasses fundraising goal

The Mount Madonna YMCA finished its annual fundraising campaign, raising more than $140,000 to support youth and senior programs throughout the south county area. More than 100 volunteers began the month of February with a goal of raising $125,000, but were able to smash through that goal. The volunteers celebrated the accomplishment with a victory ceremony Feb. 29. Although the volunteers have finished the fundraising drive, the YMCA accepts donations to the campaign on a year round basis.
