Police are looking for the driver of a car officers found on its roof on Edmundson Avenue near Spring Avenue in southwest Morgan Hill early Wednesday morning.

Though there was sign of injury, the driver of the 1982 Mercury has not been located and the engine was cold when officers responded to reports of passersby.

“There was blood in the car, but no driver, no passengers,” Armstrong said. “Our officers contacted the registered owner of the car, and they were trying to determine who had been driving the car.”

Armstrong said California Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.

Morgan Hill Police Cmdr. Joe Sampson said the case is under the CHP’s jurisdiction, but did confirm that someone from Kaiser Santa Teresa Hospital called the MHPD Wednesday morning. According to the dispatch logs, an emergency room nurse called to report a man covered with blood came to the emergency room claiming he had been assaulted and his vehicle stolen. The man also said he ended up in a dumpster, and that the event began in a bar on Dunne Avenue.

Sampson said he was told the suspect was scheduled to go to the police station to pick up something that had flown out of his vehicle, but did not have further information
