LO alum Jutesen sets new PR, CSUMB school record
at NCAA regionals
Live Oak High grad Erick Justesen broke both his personal record in tournament play and the Cal State Monterey Bay school record in the NCAA Division II regional championship held this week at Hunters Ranch in Paso Robles.
Jutesen, a 2003 LO grad, had seven birdies and an eagle in a virtually flawless second round, which gave him a five-shot lead heading into the final round Tuesday.
He answered with a 2-under 70 to finish 11-under for the 54-hole competition. He finished four strokes ahead of his nearest competitor.
As news of his stellar round made its way through the course, a gathering of coaches and players on the final hole watched him split the fairway with a 300-yard drive, and place a wedge to four feet from the hole. The putt was true and Erick recorded a 63.
