garlic city bandits baseball
Led by Live Oak grad, and Division II college player, C.J. Goularte, the Garlic City Bandits 13-and-under Traveling Baseball Club will be holding open tryouts from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 1 at Community Park in Morgan Hill.
Bring a copy of the prospective player’s birth certificate and baseball gear. Call Pat Goularte at (408) 683-0489 for additional information before attending the tryout.
The AAA-rated club plays year-round baseball and recently finished second in the state after winning a Fourth of July tournament in Lake Tahoe.

gavilan summer hoops camp
Kids grades 3-8 are invited to attend the Gavilan College Men’s Basketball Summer Camp Aug. 9-13 at Gavilan, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. in Gilroy.
Hosted by the Gavilan Rams players and coaching staff, including Head Coach Chris Shoemaker, the camp is designed to provide quality basketball instruction, including basic skills in a fun atmosphere. Instruction will focus on offensive and defensive fundamentals, shooting, rebounding, ball handling, passing, dribbling, stretching and conditioning.
Each camper will have an opportunity to use their skills in game competition.
Sessions for grades 3-5 will be held 9 a.m. to noon, with sessions for grades 6-8 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fee is $65. Pay at the door and make checks payable to Gavilan Men’s Basketball.

mh cyclist to compete at junior worlds
Morgan Hill’s Daniel Holloway, racing for the Lombardi Sports Juniors Cycling Team, is preparing for the Junior Track World Championships, which begin on July 28 in Los Angeles.
After earning six top-four results at the USCF Junior National Track Champion-ships, the 17-year-old Holloway is one of nine junior men selected by USA Cycling for the world championships.
LOHS physicals
Dr. Ricardo Perez will be conducting athletic physicals at Live Oak High at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 30 in the high school gymnasium. Cost is $35. Boys only. Girls are invited to call Dr. Perez to make special arrangements.
All high school athletes must have an annual physical before competing.

The Pride of Morgan Hill Girls Softball is accepting applications for coaches for Fall Ball “A” and “B” teams in the 10, 12 and 14 age groups. Fall Ball will start in August.

Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League is now taking signups for the 2004/05 fall recreational season.
Cost is $120 on a space-available basis. Boys and girls aged 4-14 (born from 8-1-99 to 7-31-91) are eligible.
