Morgan Hill Pony Baseball will be accepting walk-in registrations for the Winterball 2004 season. Registration will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 21. Signups will be held at Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Tennant Station at Monterey Road in Morgan Hill, next door to Sizzler. There will also be one evening registration on Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., also at Mountain Mike’s. All fees are $40. Late registrations (after Aug. 28) will be $45. Teams will be drafted during the week of Sept. 6, with practices starting on Sept. 11. The Winterball season usually ends before Thanksgiving weekend. The Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony Divisions will be playing at Burnett, El Toro and Britton (Mustang 2) fields. The SCBA Fall Basketball program begins on Sept. 11. There are incentives to sign up early. The leagues run until Nov. 6. The fee for a new player is currently $95 and for a returning player is $75. There is a $10 deduction for each additional family member. This Saturday-only program is held on the Britton Middle School campus. mt. madonna challenge

A major fundraising event of the South Valley Symphony, the Mount Madonna Challenge, takes place Sunday, Aug. 29. This year’s event will feature a 6K SalamanderWalk and Race commencing at 8:30 a.m., registration at 7:30 a.m., followed by the featured 12K Mt. Madonna Challenge Race beginning at 9 a.m. The race is sponsored by the Gavilan Joggers and Striders and the South Valley Symphony. All entries are to report to the Sprig Lake picnic area site at the base (Gilroy side) of Mt. Madonna County Park. Pre-registration fees are $20 with shirt and $13 without. Registrations received after Aug. 24 will be priced at $25 with shirt and $18 without. Completed registration forms should be made payable to the South Valley Symphony, Mt. The Pride of Morgan Hill Softball program will be having two tryouts for its 16U ‘A’ Fall Ball team on Sunday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 22 at Community Park in Morgan Hill. taylor made program

Taylor Made’s Fall Arm Strengthening Program, which focuses on throwing technique, throwing mechanics and training the arm to be healthy throughout the season and beyond, begins Sept. 13. Designed for players 13 and under, the program will last eight weeks through the first week of November. Held at Community Park in Morgan Hill, the class will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5-6 p.m. Classes will be taught by Rich Taylor, who is certified to teach the Alan Jaeger “Thrive on Throwing” program. The cost for the 24 sessions is $195 ($8 per session ) This will include the j-bands (surgical tubing). Payments are due by Aug. 15.
