Gavilan looking for golfers

Gavilan College head golf coach Scott Krause is looking for golfers to join the Rams for their 2004 season.

The golf season starts on Jan 15 with the first tournament on the schedule for Feb. 9.

hollister heat tryouts

Tryouts for the Hollister Heat “A” league girls softball traveling team for ages 12, 14 and 16 will be held on Jan. 10 at the Heat field at Veterans Memorial Park in Hollister.

Tryout times are as follows: 12 and under, 10 a.m.; 14 and under, noon; and, 16 and under, 2 p.m.

Morgan Hill Pony Baseball will hold Spring 2004 signups for ages 5-16 on two upcoming Saturdays.

The Boys and Girls South Valley Junior Warriors Basketball League will begin January 3-March 6. All sessions are on Saturdays. Registration will continue through Jan. 3.

Baseball conditioning class

Taylor-Made Baseball is holding a baseball conditioning class for players 14 and under from Jan. 12 to Feb. 6 at the Morgan Hill Physical Therapy Center. The class meets three times per week for a total of 12 sessions. Emphasis will be on arm strength and body conditioning.

Instruction will be held both indoors and outdoors. Cost is $125.

Gavilan niners addition

In November, the Gavilan Niners played in a short course competition at Mariners Point in Foster City and Joy Chalmers from Morgan Hill placed second in her flight, while Marlene Sherwin from Morgan Hill took third in her flight.

The Gavilan Niners play each Thursday morning at the Gavilan Golf Course in Gilroy. Tee time is 9 a.m.
