Pride of Morgan Hill is having tryouts for 10U and 12U “B” teams. Monday, May 5 and Wednesday May 7 at Community Park from 6-9 p.m. Details: Debbie at 779-4906.

Rams scramble

The Gavilan Rams will be hosting a fundraiser golf tournament on May 31 at the Gilroy Golf Course. The four-person scramble has a shotgun start of 11 a.m. The individual package of $100 includes green fees, golf cart, tee prize, barbeque and refreshments and dinner. The corporate package of $500 includes all of the above for four golfers plus four additional dinners for guests of your choice. The tee sponsorship of $125 features a 30” x 36” sign at a hole. Beginning golf school

Learn the basic fundamentals from certified PGA instructors. Participants learn basics like putting and chipping, golf pre-game preparation techniques, full swing fundamentals and course management. Class fee is $150 per person which includes five ninety-minute sessions, range balls, $30.00value range card, Coyote Creek gift box.

The sessions run May 27 to June 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. and May 31 to June 28 from 10-11 a.m. Details: Coyote Creek Golf Shop at 463-1400.

Softball tourney

Mardi Gras

Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras 10K Race / 5K fun run will be held Saturday, May 24 starting at 8:30 a.m. There is a a $25 entry fee. The event is sponsored by Live Oak High School Athletic Boosters. It will be held at Anderson Lake County Park on Cochrane Road. Registration begins 7 a.m. on race day. Receive a t-shirt and Mardi Gras admission ticket if you pre-registered by May 19. Home run derby

On May 10, the Baseball Buddies from Gavilan College will be sponsoring a home run derby to benefit the Gavilan College Baseball team. This event will take place on the baseball field at Gavilan from approximately 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds generated will be donated to the baseball team to purchase needed batting cage nets and a new wind screen for the outfield fence. Last year’s event raised $650 for a new television and VCR for the Physical Education Department on campus Details: Danielle Rhinehart at 847-4452.

Volleyball league

BigServe Volleyball is now accepting registrations for it’s third summer season beginning June 23 and finishing August 2. The BigServe Girls Volleyball League (BGVL) will operate two days per week on Monday and Tuesdays Nights. Beginners / Low intermediate play at 4:30-6:15 p.m, and the advanced go from 6:15-8:30 p.m. Details: www.ServeOverThe.net.

Makos expands offerings

For the first time ever, the team will offer a second clinic the week of May 19 at the newly renovated Live Oak High School pool.

Signups and tryouts for the clinic will be held Wednesday May 14 and Thursday May 15 from 5 to 6:15 p.m. . Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool, wear a swimsuit, and bring a towel. The cost of the clinic is $15 for the week, and includes a Morgan Hill Swim Club t-shirt and swim cap.

Any swimmers not able to get into the first clinic and not wanting to wait for the second clinic are encouraged to tryout for the team Mondays through Fridays at 5:15 p.m. at the Live Oak High School pool.
