The TOPS soccer program for special needs kids will begin its informal spring season on Saturday. The program, sponsored by the Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League, is open to special needs kids of all ages in the Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy area. Taylor Made Baseball is holding a series of Spring Break Pitching Clinics on Monday and Tuesday at Bucks Field in San Martin. mh gymnast takes fifth in state

Morgan Hill gymnast Amanda Schlaefer just completed the Level 8 State Finals last month in Visalia. She did very well, with a Silver medal on the vault, and placing high enough to qualify for the Western Regionals in Las Vegas this month. Following are her scores in the various events: Beam, 8.6; Floor, 9.4; Vault, 9.3 (Silver medal); Bars, 9.15; All Around, 36.45 (5th place).

wine auction for runners

The South Valley Wine Auction organizing committee is pleased to announce our sixth annual wine auction event Friday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m., at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road. Several local restaurants and more than a dozen of California’s premier vintners will be present to offer our guests a sampling of their finest foods and wines…all included in the nominal $35 ticket price. We expect over 100 items to be available for silent and live auction bidding. Door prizes and raffle prizes will be awarded to several participants.

The Cheer Divas All-Stars will be holding a tryouts session for their All-Star Cheerleading teams on April 10.

MH Pride softball tryouts

The Pride of Morgan Hill Girls Softball will be having tryouts for their 10, 12, 14 & 16 age group competitive teams May 3-4 at 4:30 pm at the San Martin School softball fields.

The Pride of Morgan Hill is a competitive traveling team which participates in weekend tournaments during the summer. Most tournaments are fairly local.

Please arrive 15 minutes early and have a parent sign you in. Be ready to start at 4:30 p.m.

Gavilan softball clinic

Gavilan College will hold a softball clinic for girls aged 6-16 on Saturday, April 24 at the Gavilan softball field. There will be two sessions, including one from 10 a.m. to noon and one from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Gavilan’s softball coaches will provide instruction in hitting, bunting, throwing, catching, infield and outfield play, and base running. Cost is $20 per session.
