The Morgan Hill Gamers entered the TPR Baseball’s – (Super Season Ends) Tournament July 27-28, their first tournament in the 8U Division.
They opened the tournament with an 11-3 win over Patterson Pride 11-3 and then won again the same day against the Ceres Blaze 8-4 in a tough battle.
Cody Thomas started Game 1, Aaron Valdez Game 2 and Caleb Elam started the championship game. They set the tone for the each game with solid performances to start.
They were followed by Eddie Benitez stepping in relief and others, Seth Hernstedt, and Ryan Murray throwing hard and getting crucial outs to help preserve the championship. Joey Schroder and Jacob Tatom hit screamers to the deep outfield and both produced inside the park homeruns. Dominic Pereira, Joey Bagley and JJ Becks used their sticks to help the Gamers produce 34 runs scored in the tournament.
Without the defense of Steven Anaya, throwing a hitter out at first from right, and Bo Rizzi knocking down a bullet at second to get a runner at second, the Gamers would have had a tough time beating the Blaze to get the Championship.
The gamers finished strong, beating the Blaze in the final game 15-10.
