Britton Middle School teacher George Flores passed away June 20 at the age of 65.

School officials will host a Celebration of Life ceremony for Britton Middle School’s beloved science teacher George Flores at 4 p.m. July 8 at the Sobrato High School gymnasium, located at 401 Burnett Ave.
Flores, a student favorite and pioneer in his field, passed away the morning of June 20. He had been with Morgan Hill Unified School District since 2007.
Students are encouraged to write notes of remembrance and drop them off at the Britton office. Cards and flowers may also be sent to the Britton office (80 West Central Ave. MH). All notes, cards, flowers, will be transported to Sobrato for the family the morning July 8, according to a letter sent by Britton principal Chris Moore to Bobcat families.
“George Flores was a larger than life teacher who touched the lives of thousands of students,” Moore wrote. “It is with the blessing of his family that I invite you and your family to join us for a celebration of his life.”
Flores’ family has requested that any Memorial contributions be made to Project Road Map at morganhillcf.org/partnership1.htm.
Project Road Map was one of many ways that Flores interacted and inspired students outside of the everyday classroom setting. As a founding member of Project Road Map, he helped bring support and conferences promoting collegiate avenues for students and their families. In addition, he founded the Britton Volcano Kids Club, where he chaperoned students to explore the volcanoes in Hawaii and rain forest in Costa Rica, and was also an advisor for  the Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) club for students who are the first in their families to attend college.
