Morgan Hill residents can help clean up the Llagas Creek on Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 16, 9am to noon. Volunteers will meet at Community Park’s main parking lot (near the restrooms) and clean up Llagas Creek between Villa Ciolino and Edmundson Avenue.

Pre-registration is not required. Volunteers can register at sign-in table. (Please show up promptly by 9 am) Wear long pants, long-sleeved T-shirts and footwear suitable for creek terrain.

Volunteers throughout Santa Clara County will also spend Saturday morning beautifying about 40 miles of creeks during the annual event, sponsored by the Creek Connections Action Group. The cleanup gives residents a chance to remove trash and debris from 27 locations which protect water quality and the habitat of plants and animals that live in creeks, and prevents pollution from flowing down to the bay.

Volunteers are also needed to cleanup the shoreline of Coyote Lake, near Gilroy. “Our dam, launch area, and certain picnic sites get heavily used during the Summer season,” said Chris Crockett, senior park ranger at Coyote Lake.
