Betty J. Cigan long time resident of Marina, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Gilroy Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Cigan of Capitola, Dennis Cigan (Judith) of Gilroy, and predeceased son, Bruce Cigan, her grand children, Claire Thome (Phil) and Ann Fitzsimmons (Mark) also residents of Gilroy, Paul Cigan (Terri) of Springfield, VA, and Joel Cigan of Fresno, CA.

 She is the great-grandmother of Claudia Cigan, Madeleine Cigan and Candace Cigan, all of Springfield, VA.

 Born on November 26, 1921, in Milwaukee, WI, to her parents, Ida and Rolla Yont. Betty attended elementary and secondary schools there, where she met her husband, Steve Cigan. Following their marriage in 1940, the couple ultimately settled in California after her husband served in World War II and the Korean War.

 They raised their family in the San Francisco Bay area, and after retirement settled in Monterey County.The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011. Funeral Services will be private.
