Despite not having a home field to call its own, the Gavilan
College soccer squad won for the first time this season
SAN BENITO – Despite not having a home field to call its own, the Gavilan College soccer squad won for the first time this season with Tuesday’s 3-2 nod over Evergreen College.

Cynthia Pinto scored all three goals for the Rams. She also scored two goals in the first conference game last week against Chabot, who won 4-2. The score was tied 2-2 at the half before the Rams lost sweeper Sonya Ornelas to injury

The Lady Rams’ playing field on campus was deemed unplayable by the conference so the team had to find an alternate location – after going on the road for a scheduled home game last week in a loss to Fresno City.

So Gavilan made itself at home at Anzar High School and gave first-year head coach Marti Behler her first career victory by stunning Evergreen.

The Lady Rams (1-2 overall) will return to the Anzar field on Thursday at 4 p.m. for a conference clash against Ohlone College.
