Morgan Hill Unified School District officials and its board of trustees will convene April 17 for its only school board meeting of the month.
Staff is requesting board approval for the district’s “Three-year Plan for Expelled Youth,” which outlines policy and procedures for ensuring that expelled students have appropriate educational options during the term of expulsion, according to the agenda item. This is a triennial update of the district’s 2015 expelled youth plan. The county program comes at a cost of $56,925 to the district.
Director of Student Services and Enrollment Linda Row is expected to lead the discussion as well as another agenda item listed as “Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Student Participation in Extra-Curricular Activities.” The latter item is an update “on how the secondary schools ensure equitable access to extra-curricular activities for socio-economically disadvantaged students.”
Closed session will begin at 4pm and public session is scheduled to start about 6 pm at the 15600 district headquarters.
Prop 51 funding
MHUSD staff has applied for Prop 51 modernization and new construction funds through the Office of Public School Construction for projects at Paradise Valley Elementary School, Britton Middle School, Nordstrom Elementary School, Jackson Academy and the future Sebastian G. Borello Elementary School.
“Under current guidelines modernization is funded with 60% state grants and 40% district match and new construction is funded 50% state grants and 50% district match,” according to the consent calendar item. “Based on the 2017-18 enrollment data, the District has approximately $12,710,236 in new construction funding available.”
