Resident of Los Gatos. A memorial service in celebration of Arlene’s life will be held at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, San Jose at 12:00 P.M. Noon on Friday, December 6, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tulip bulb in the spring (her favorite flower), or send a donation to Hospice of the Valley in San Jose for their tremendous love and care for our family.
Arlene Edna Robrahn (Phelan), 80, was born in Milwaukee, Wi., but raised her four daughters in one of her favorite cities in the world, San Francisco and the Bay Area.
She worked at Intel and National Semiconductor in the 1970s, then retired and later moved to Monterey, where she fell in love with the Carmel and Big Sur areas.
Arlene loved gardening and had a taste for beautiful things – in nature and fashion. She had poise and grace, and was a true lady in every sense of the word.
She raised her daughters with kindness and selflessness. She also taught each of them to own a black skirt, black pumps, a classic white blouse and a set of pearls for elegance and sophistication.
Arlene is survived by her loving daughters: Terry Ann (Tony) Phelan-Davis of Carmel Valley; Maureen (Mark) Webb of Morgan Hill; Kathy Phelan (Kenny Wash) of San Jose; and Susie (Troy) Thompson of San Jose. She also leaves seven amazing grandchildren, her ultimate joy in life: Briana Brostrom, Ryan Webb, Jaime Webb, Erin Wash, Ethan Thompson, Rene Wash and Abbey Thompson.
