Please join the Duran family in mourning the loss of our beloved father Antonio “Tony” Augustine Duran.
Our father, born in San Jose, was a life-long resident of Gilroy. Growing up as a child of a farm worker, he attended Jordan & Severance Elementary, Brownell Junior High, and Gilroy High. He furthered his higher education by attending Gavilan College and graduating from University of California Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology.
He was beloved husband of 51 years to Luz Carrillo Duran and father to Antonio A. Duran Jr. (Raylene), Laura Duran, Irene Duran, and Juan A. Duran (Sonia). Antonio was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren; Antonio A. Duran III, Jaime A. Duran, Adrian T. Duran and Aiyana M. Duran.
He was very proud to have three generations of his namesake graduate from Gilroy High School as part of the Classes of 1959, 1983, and 2013.
He also leaves his sister, Augustina “Sally” Armendariz, nephews and niece, Reymundo, Rebeca and Gilbert Armendariz; as well as many cousins and their children.
He was a very loving husband, responsible father and caring grandfather. A dedicated family man he role modeled a positive lifestyle for those around him and giving advice to family members seeking his guidance.
He will be deeply missed.
