Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Alice Solano passed away on January 30, 2012 surrounded by her family.

Alice was born in Longmont, Colorado on December 3, 1920 to Frank and Juanita Alva. Orphaned at a young age, Alice and her sisters, Pearl and Sadie, were raised by an aunt and uncle.

Alice moved to Hollister in 1936 where she met and married Frank Solano in 1941. She was a supervisor for 35 years at Fairview Cannery. Her co-workers appreciated her kindness and concern towards them. To Alice her family “was her life.” She adored her children and grandchildren and she spent countless hours with them. Alice was an avid quilter who ensured that all her children, grandchildren, and new babies had a special quilt made just for them.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, her husband Frank, and two grandsons, Brian Flores and Steven Torres. She is survived by! her children, Gloria Torres, Mary Ann (and Mario) Flores, and Rick Solano. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home at 7:00pm. A mass will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Scared Heart Church at 11:00am. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
