Live Oak was three outs away from a much-needed split with Oak Grove in their Santa Teresa Division series last week, but the Acorns could not hang on in Friday’s finale.

The Eagles scored twice in the seventh inning to win 10-9 in San Jose, sending Live Oak to a fifth straight loss.

The Acorns were poised for their first conference victory after building a 7-1 lead in the second inning. Oak Grove scattered seven runs across the next four innings to tie it 8-all, but Live Oak went back in front with one run in the sixth before the Eagles (4-3, 1-0) answered in the seventh off Jacob Estrada (2-2).

Jakob Conlan went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs, Matt Bergantz singled twice and drove in two runs, and Aaron Armijo collected two singles as well plus an RBI for Live Oak (2-6, 0-4).

Estrada came on in relief of starter Mitch Hickey after the fourth inning and was steady through the fifth and sixth. Estrada struck out five and allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk.

Hickey had seven strikeouts.

Live Oak dropped the series opener, 9-4, Wednesday at Sarich Field.

John Forestieri was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs for the Acorns, and Estrada and Kyle Quadros collected two strikeouts apiece in a combined 3 1/3 innings of relief of the left-handed Conlan (0-2), who went 2 1/3 innings.
