The Live Oak volleyball team remains undefeated in the Tri-County Athletic League after a 15-11, 15-8, 15-10 win over visiting Monterey Friday.
“It was a bit of a worry after coming out after spring break,” said coach John Telfer. “It seems like we come out flat every year.”
Live Oak (20-9, 10-0 TCAL) used 11 kills from Chris Deem, who was filling in for the absent Drew Pearson. Deem also had a strong game blocking with six of his ten blocks coming as stuff blocks.
Matt McElroy added seven kills. Gavin Kolodge was all over the court with several defensive digs and had five kills.
Live Oak will play its final home game on Wednesday against Hollister at 6:30 p.m. The nine seniors on the team will be honored during the game.
Last time Hollister took it to five game.
“They are probably one of the top blocking teams we have seen,” Telfer said.
