It’s that time of the year again, for the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce to start naming their annual Celebrate award winners recognizing local people, businesses and organizations that have made unique or significant contributions to the community during the past year-plus.
Over the past week, chamber board members and staff have begun surprising the 2025 Celebrate award winners, visiting them at their places of work or community gatherings to notify them in person of the honors. Notified so far are Woman of the Year Peggy Martin; Man of the Year Joe Mueller; Volunteer of the Year Patty Skovron; and Nonprofit of the Year Leadership Morgan Hill.
To be named in the coming days are the chamber’s 2025 Legacy Award winner; Small Business of the Year; Large Business of the Year; Educator of the Year; and Student of the Year.
Peggy Martin is the owner of The Family Wealth Consulting Group in Morgan Hill. She has used her financial knowledge and experience to help educate students at Rock the Mock, a chamber program that helps local high school students prepare for the job market and higher education opportunities.
Martin is active in the local branch of the AAUW and Leadership Morgan Hill, according to chamber officials. She has worked on local events such as the Wildflower Run and helped facilitate scholarship programs. Martin has also contributed to numerous local nonprofits.
In a nomination letter submitted by Cecelia Ponzini, a Morgan Hill resident and local nonprofit executive, Martin is also praised for her volunteer work with the Morgan Hill Community Foundation and at Covid-19 vaccination sites during the pandemic.
Mueller was notified of his Man of the Year recognition Feb. 21 at the chamber’s monthly breakfast. Mueller might be best known for his 36 years of volunteer service on the Morgan Hill Planning Commission, but his contributions go further.

Mueller, a retired engineer, is also involved in a variety of community outreach, aiming to bring more local residents into the decision making process in the city, chamber officials said.
“He can often be seen on the Chamber’s monthly economic development meeting updating the community on important city developments and is a constant advocate for Morgan Hill,” the chamber wrote in an announcement of the Man of the Year.
Cheri Brown wrote in her nomination letter for Mueller, “Joe has a wealth of knowledge regarding our community’s planning and growth.”
Additional Celebrate award winners announced this week are Volunteer of the Year Patty Skovron and Nonprofit of the Year Leadership Morgan Hill.
All the chamber’s 67th annual Celebrate award winners will be recognized and celebrated April 6 at a dinner and auction at Guglielmo Winery. For more information and tickets, visit morganhillchamber.org.
The Times will feature more 2025 Chamber of Commerce Celebrate winners in upcoming editions.
