Xavier Souto (far left) and Brian Light (far right) were shot and killed by a former co-worker June 25 at the Ford Store Morgan Hill.

The June 25 fatal shooting at the Ford Store in Morgan Hill resulted in the death of Brian Light and Xavier Souto, both employees at the dealership.

Light was the Parts and Service Director and Souto was the Parts Manager at the dealership. On June 26, the day following the shooting, a GoFundMe page was started in Light and Souto’s names to raise money for their families.

The page was started by Ford Store Morgan Hill General Manager and Vice President, Ashley Valletta. The monetary goal set on the page was $500,000 and had raised over $77,000 by Thursday evening.

The page gave a brief biography of the victims and said Light had attempted to disarm the gunman, buying time for those inside the dealership to escape. Both men were fathers. Light leaves behind two children according to Valletta’s post. She also wrote that Souto was the main provider for his family.

Souto had worked at the Ford Store since 2011 and Light had worked in the automotive industry for three decades, according to the post. Light started working at the Ford Store in 2018. This story is continuing to develop and more information will be added as it becomes available.

Morgan Hill Police said a June 26 press conference that Steven Leet, 60, of San Jose, shot Light and Souto following a workplace dispute. The gunman then shot and killed himself as police arrived.
